Custom-made sports orthotics for football
The Hazards of Football
Athletes place a much greater strain on their feet than most people do. This can intensify biomechanical problems and misalignment between the feet and the legs, resulting in injuries and chronic conditions such as plantar faciitis, over-pronation, tendon strains and more. Many of these problems and injuries are causing by the tremendous stress on the feet, and leg positions that prevent the weight of the body from being properly distributed across the entire sole of the foot instead of solely on specific, vulnerable parts of the foot.
Football is an example of a sport that requires substantial strength and stability, particularly in the lower extremities. Players must maintain their balance at all times, even during direct confrontations with players from the rival team, and make sudden moves, stops and shifts in direction. Football players play wearing designated, tight-fitting boots that provide little cushioning and support.
Custom-Made Football Orthotics
Custom-made orthotic insoles are specially designed to suit the athlete’s foot structure and primary type of athletic activity. Different types of sports require different types of foot orthotics. Football players, for example, run a great deal and suffer from many of the same injuries and orthopedic damage as runners do, including sprained ankles, tendon strains and more. These can be prevented by using special custom-made orthotics to improve stability, support the ankles and the arches in the feet, reduce muscle strain and absorb shock when the feet hit the ground. They protect the sole of the foot from pressure and constant friction, distribute weight more evenly across the foot and support its arch and posture.
Chronic Injury Prevention
It is extremely important for athletes in general and football players in particular to keep their feet cool and dry while they play. Frequent slipping and sliding of the foot inside the shoe can increase the risk of sprains or other injuries. It can also result in dermatological problems such as irritation, corns and blisters which cause foot pain and can interfere with performance on the football field.
How Custom-Made Orthotics Work
Custom-made insoles are fitted precisely to the unique shape and structure of the athlete’s foot. They are designed to address the specific biomechanical problems that the each individual football player experiences, the position that he plays on field, the unique challenges that the game presents, and even various types of terrains. All of these considerations combined result in improved performance and protection against foot pain and injury.
